Steve Lander
Vice President

Auburn University
Steve was miraculously hired by Lander Construction, and to his credit, he has been willing to learn the construction business from the ground up. He started as a construction laborer and cleaned job sites before training with construction foremen and superintendents with extensive experience. In addition to his corporate responsibility, he is a qualified Project Manager with extensive scheduling and subcontractor management experience.

Jeanie Swaim
Office Manager
RJ Lander Construction since 1995
Fashion Merchandising Degree
Jeanie started at RJL in 1995 and handles accounting and all office administrative work. Previous work experience includes Leasing and Property Management for AMLI Properties (5 years) and was in retail sales as an Assistant Store Manager prior to going into real estate.

Jay started doing electrical work while he was in high school, and later became proficient in plumbing & HVAC. He completed his Journeyman’s license (Jay, what is your license in?) in 1984. He worked for a company that built Blockbuster Videos before the contractor hired Jay to be a Superintendent. Jay is proficient in reading contract drawings and specifications and is skilled in developing drawings with computer aided design.

Rick Higgins
Project Superintendent
RJ Lander Construction since 2010
Rick has worked in construction for 30 years. At just 10 years old, he started working at Davis Sheet Metal as an apprentice. At 16 he was working for Richland Hospital as an HVAC technician and Plumber. Rick enlisted in the Marine Corps and served four years as a combat engineer and successfully completed two wartime deployments. Following his service to our country, he worked at Matrix Interiors for 18 years and became a construction foreman and then superintendent. Rick knows all aspects of interior construction and the importance of scheduling the project timelines.

John Thompson

University of North Texas
John started working construction at 21 years old, and in his own words he was “thrown in the fire” and expected to produce. He was fortunate to have worked with experienced professionals, and is now an expert in interior construction. His skill set includes scheduling, subcontractor management, supervision of all drywall mechanics and executing plans as drawn. He previously worked for JP Interiors Inc., specializing in residential drywall from 1973 until 1980, and for TK Construction specializing in commercial drywall from 1981 until 1997.

Daniel Reyes

Started working with Ventura construction ever since beginning of high school mainly on holiday and summer breaks doing commercial framing, drywall and carpentry. Jumping onto full-time after high school from 2013-2018. Became efficient in layouts and specifications. Being adaptable to any situation and being a fast learner I took a leap of faith and started working for a general contractor, Nouveau Construction (2018-2021), as a superintendent for a where we mainly focused on government buildings and universities.

Charlotte has 14 years of experience in commercial brokerage, specializing in sales, leasing and disposition for big box retail real estate. As an example, she has sold and leased over 50+ Albertsons stores. She joined RJL to further their business development program and to grow the client/partner relationships.
